Re-Opening Guidelines and Thoughts

Updated: May 19, 2020

We will re-open on Wednesday, May 20th. Things will be a bit different, but we’re still the Me & Billy you’ve known for the past 6+ years! After nine weeks of being closed, we're excited to get back to it and see everyone again! What’s the plan? We’re following the CDC and state guidelines on social distancing and cleaning procedures. Notably:

  • Our hours will be 11AM-8PM.

  • You’ll see a new layout to reduce our capacity to 50%. The tables are 6ft apart and bar stools have been removed from the bar and drinking rail.

  • Nothing will be pre-set on the tables and menus will be printed for one-time-use.

  • If there is a wait, we will ask that you wait outside or in your vehicle. This will ensure guests maintain a safe social distance and do not congregate in the bar area.

  • We will not be able to accommodate groups larger than six people (this is a mandate).

  • Guests may purchase alcohol only if they also order food.

  • We’ll have a modified menu for the time being. The M&B classics remain, and we’re bringing back a few old favorites!

  • We’re wearing masks and cleaning like crazy! There will be hand sanitizer stations for everyone to use.

We have been paying close attention to how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting our industry and know we have a responsibility to help prevent the spread of the virus. The Iowa Restaurant Association has been incredibly helpful in communicating the necessary requirements to re-open. They have developed the Iowa Hospitality Promise to ensure everyone's safety as the restaurant industry welcomes back guests. The program has two components, our promise to you and, in return, your promise to us as outlined below.

OUR PROMISE TO YOU

  • We will continue our safe sanitation practices with a Certified Food Protection Manager who has put protocols in place emphasizing your safety and well-being.

  • Ensure all staff members are feeling healthy and symptom free prior to every shift.

  • All seating options will comply with the appropriate social distancing guidelines.

  • Hand sanitizer is available upon entry and exit.

  • We will clean and sanitize all common areas regularly.

  • All tables and chairs will be cleaned and sanitized after every use.

  • Place settings, utensils, menus, and condiments will either be single-use or will be cleaned and sanitized after every use.

  • We will post the Iowa Hospitality Promise at our entrances so everyone understands the steps we must all take to keep our communities safe.

YOUR PROMISE TO US

  • If you have been exposed to COVID-19 recently or have symptoms of COVID-19 (including a fever, cough, or shortness of breath), please help us keep everyone safe by staying home.

  • If you have underlying heath conditions or are otherwise concerned about contracting COVID-19, please use our curbside pick-up option.

  • If you have any questions about the Iowa Hospitality Promise, please ask for a manager who will be happy to assist you.

We had grand ideas of releasing a new Spring/Summer menu upon our re-opening but reality set in once we saw the list of guidelines from the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals. We had to change course and implement some changes to ensure the safety of our guests and crew. There are higher expectations on all of us to keep the public safe during this recovery period. We know there will be other establishments that will operate differently, but we're committed to diligently following the guidelines. That new menu will have to wait until we resume "normal" operations, along with some other things, such as our weekly trivia night and opening our #sittinonmain patio seating for the season.

If you’re a little leery of dining out, you can give us a call to place a to-go order for a curbside pick-up. You can view our current menu here! The health and safety of our guests and crew is our top priority, so we appreciate your patience and compliance as we navigate this new phase together. We’ll make necessary adjustments as we see how things go. Thank you for continuing to support our family-owned business!
